Japan Travel is seeking an Operations Support Associate to support the planning and execution of tailor-made tours and travel experiences throughout Japan. Working closely with our Sales Consultants, Operations Manager, and supplier network, you will help transform travel ideas into seamless, memorable journeys for our clients. This role combines itinerary planning, supplier coordination, booking management, operational problem-solving, and product development within a fast-paced international environment. Most of our tours are highly customized and require careful attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Start Date: Anytime
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week
Location: Tokyo with the possibility to work remotely
Salary: From JPY 260,000 per month, depending on experience
Additional Compensation: Performance-based commissions available
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Managing a stream of requests from sales travel consultants. Assist with planning itineraries and schedules, negotiation, pricing, and booking travel-related services.
Work with the Operations Manager of the Travel Agency to manage and develop local supplier relationships within Japan, ensuring the best prices and best services obtained from suppliers.
Work with the Operations Manager and the Travel Agency Manager to look beyond our current portfolio of services and arrange new services with suppliers
Research and introduce new and exclusive services and ideas to travel consultants.
Work with Management to improve efficiency and productivity across the department.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Native-level Japanese and business-level English
2+ years of professional work experience in Japan
Experience in the travel, tourism, hospitality, or related industries is a plus
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple itineraries, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a warm, professional approach
Strong problem-solving abilities and the confidence to work independently when required
Comfortable working collaboratively within an international team environment
Good knowledge of travel throughout Japan and an interest in discovering destinations, experiences, accommodations, and transportation options
Understanding of travel logistics, transportation networks, and regional travel considerations across Japan
Proficiency with standard business software, including Google Workspace and spreadsheets
Flexibility to occasionally support urgent operational matters outside normal business hours during peak travel periods
Based in the Tokyo area
