Japan Travel represents a one-stop experience that provides all the information and tools to discover, plan, and book a trip to Japan.

Japan Travel’s Travel Agency desk is seeking a DACH Market Sales Team Leader to oversee and strategize the planning and execution of tailor-made experiences in Japan for our valued customers. You will lead the team in catering specifically to the DACH market, ensuring efficient coordination and delivery of travel services that align with the preferences and expectations of our B2C clientele. Your role will involve providing the information and resources that help plan their dream holiday in the Land of the Rising Sun!

  • Start Date: As soon as available

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week 

  • Location: Tokyo (Chiyoda) with the possibility to work remotely 

  • Salary: JPY 320,000 per month 

  • Bonuses: Commission available on performance upon reaching KPIs


  • Plan and develop business strategies for the DACH market to achieve sales targets for the DACH market team

  • Lead and support your team in handling front-end chat services for tour inquiries, and in preparing quotations and itineraries

  • Manage and plan concise and effective team meetings as necessary, providing regular assistance with planning, business development, systems management, and reporting

  • Manage your team’s schedules, workflow, and pipelines

  • Promote and manage DACH Market team employees to reach sales targets, setting individual targets as necessary

  • Research and stay informed of the travel agency industry to develop strategies and guidelines to improve travel agency services and the information provided by Japan Travel 

  • Communicate with customers and support on inquiries and travel services

  • Plan, book, and execute purchased tours to ensure flawless and memorable experiences for our customers

  • Collaborate with the Travel Agency team in planning, business development, execution, and reporting

  • Research the Travel Agency's German-speaking market(s) and develop strategies and guidelines to enhance the travel agency’s services

  • Manage and cultivate relationships with local partners within Japan to improve the service and offerings provided by Japan Travel to customers

  • Work closely with and regularly report to the Travel Agency Manager to ensure the provision of professional and personable service to our travel customers


  • Native or near-native German and English proficiency, both verbal and written (mandatory)

  • Currently based in Japan or planning to move to Japan in the near future

  • Experience in customer service

  • Previous experience in the travel/tourism industry is a plus

  • Experience in team management or leadership roles is a plus

  • Strong interest in Japan, including knowledge of travel infrastructure around Japan (experience/location recommendations, JR Pass limitations, etc.)  is preferred 

  • Capacity to work on-site and remotely, with a reliable network connection capable of smoothly running meeting apps such as Zoom and work chat apps such as Slack

  • Ability to work both independently and within an international team

  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle various tasks and responsibilities within a dynamic work environment

  • Proactive attitude and problem-solving skills to address customer inquiries and ensure customer satisfaction

  • Japanese proficiency is not required but would be highly beneficial for the position
